This year's Save A Sample! is scheduled for April 5-7, 2016.
To participate, follow these easy steps....

1. PACK YOUR SAMPLES
2. SIGN-UP AS AN A&D FIRM
The more interesting your samples, the better. When you are gathering your materials, ask yourself "would I use this for a school project?" If the answer is a resounding "no", than re-think its donation potential.
Each firm is limited to donating a maximum of 10 boxes.
Donations can include, but are not limited to:
- Carpet Samples (Loose Samples
only 12" x 12" or smaller)
- Fabric Samples (Memo Samples
only, no chain sets)
- Glass Samples smaller than 12"x12"
- Tile Samples smaller than 12"x12"
- Stone Samples smaller than 12"x12"
- Metal Samples smaller than 12"x12"
- Wood Samples
- Laminate Samples
* Glass, Tile, Stone, and Metal Samples should be less than 12" x 12".
Please DO NOT donate: sweets catalogs, code books, binders from before 2012, material boards (i.e. brick boards) or anything that could not be easily incorporated into a project.
Complete the Save A Sample! Design Firm Participation Form. Be sure to complete the form by March 4, 2016 (Sign-up will begin February 1st!). To be notified of sign-up, fill out the Design Firm Event Notification Form.
Borrowing from the Walk-A-Thon concept, we request that you ask manufacturers and their representatives to support your donation effort by pledging a small amount for every box you donate. To participate in the Save A Sample! event, we ask that you give us a minimum of 5 potential pledgors to contact on your behalf. The money they donate goes directly to local area design schools to fund scholarships.
3. JURY THE COMPETITION
Save A Sample! is pleased to announce the student Hand Drawing Competition. Hand Drawing emphasizes a slow deliberative process of creating, rethinking, and re-evaluating that, when fused with an unprecedented level of skill, elevates simple drawing into art.
Save A Sample! looks to celebrate this form and to encourage exceptional examples of student hand drawing with our annual competition. Save A Sample! will offer one grand prize scholarship of $1,000 and six first prize scholarships of $250 to winners in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington DC. Furthermore, the school attended by our grand prize winner will also receive $500 for the school's resource library.
New York Designers and Architects, join us this year as we jury a selection of exceptional student drawings created by students from design schools throughout the country.
